whenever you try to rent a movie on something like Prime or UA-cam it usually winds up somewhere in the $5 ballpark; is that a better pricing mechanism than infinite streaming? like we can still stream but it's not free
Finally ! Someone explains what I've been trying to say about trilogies. Most of what we see are not true trilogies
On the intro: the Rock as a wrestler was pretty much always a villain tho? Like that's how he got popular in the first place because nobody liked him beforehand.
I really want the next big popular movie genre to be "documentary", 3 hour long documentaries about the weird topics that have stuck to our seats, wanting more of them, as soon as its over.
I also did a spit take at the windex joke. 😂
Lily James made this movie fantastic
This guy stinks and is trying way too hard to be funny.
thanks sponsor block for saving 1 hour
People that love the last jedi aren't allowed to complain about the modern landscape of movies. That's your mess buddy
a good premise for a looney tunes movie would be like a biopic for them where they’re the main characters, it’s like a heartwarming satirical dramedy, where the characters try to find their place in the entertainment industry since the 50’s!
Nice video
shit. i really wanna watch the rest of this but you sold the movie too well and now i gotta go watch that
Damn when he started to talk about pirates I was ready for him to mention one piece... but I guess I have to wait longer
I saw this when it first came out. Blew my mind. Loved it then. Loved it since. On my all time top ten list. Too young to focus on the financials or the professional critics, so never did. For me it was always a home run that was hit out of the park. Never did square the idea of what they planned to do with a kidnapped human tho. Superman mom was a slice of heaven to behold at the time.
Fantastic work, I enjoyed it so much!
rewatching this for the tenth time ❤️
Temple of Doom has always been my favorite also!
He's the directing equivalent of the service you can get from IKEA to have the furniture assembled for you. They're fast and they properly tighten all the clamp-screws, but it's still IKEA.
The digimon movie definitely had some pretty hard needle drops 😊
I’m taking a 💩 RN
The problem are not superheroe movies…its the executives pushing bad craft
Grown up men whose lives revolve around childrens interests
the most disappointing ending of a trilogy ever in history is not even a movie, it's a game called Mass effect. You will literally cry when you reach that ending, not at all cathartic
pickaxe fight! (yeah i know its a railroad hammer)
Not to disrupt the theory or argument here, but, we are big retro Nintendo fans, and we couldn't care less about the Mario movie, also we rejected the depiction of Peach, it was funny the way she looked in the trailers. However, we adore the 80's Super Maro Bros movie.
Hello from Dubai.
Enjoy this channel and I admire the work you guys put into all of it, but there’s something so odd about a show which is about movies and which includes interstitial skits and such that has such, uhh, less-than-natural line reads. I don’t mean to be mean and I find your “assistant” to be charismatic, but it’s as if she’s been asked to act like she’s acting. A lot of the dialogue feels this way, honestly, so perhaps it’s all purposeful, but man - it doesn’t exactly avail itself of the natural delivery which makes funny things be funny. Maybe you guys need to run some improv workshops or the like to loosen up a bit.
I'm curious how many Concorde landing shots there are. I'm guessing not many. It's pretty iconic, considering the aircraft.
omg an Irish mammy! As a fellow Irishperson born and bred I must subscribe immediately
One off topic thing I've noticed, as a non-native English speaker (I'm from Spain) is how incredibly good diction Patrick has. I understand everything he says without subtitles. I love your accent, Pat.
The list of things you got wrong is long, but here's just one. In The Warriors the entire movie is based on the city. The journey, the different neighborhoods, the minutiae that makes up each one, the characters that inhabit them. In Streets of Fire the city serves as merely a backdrop, a "place" where the action occurs, it just doesn't matter. I won't even begin to mention how you left out the greatest band to ever exist playing in the biker bar (the real life BLASTERS).......but damn, I just did.
I can totally see Card games and sports in general becoming a popular genre. Anime has been successfully doing it for decades, and seeing the success of Challengers there's definitely a market for crazy, dramatic, intense 'gaming' movies.
Great video!
Hot take, could the Star Wars prequels be considered "vibes" movies?
I see no particular reason to doubt Netflix that their stuff is getting more views than theatrical releases.
I know this is an old video, but just a note on the job posting at the beginning; if it was for a video game company, a “cinematic” is another word for cutscenes. So it was a director of cutscenes, and they were looking for people with cutscene experience. So not the best example to use for the intro. Doesn’t negate the rest of the video, obviously, but I just thought I would point that out.
Thinking about the Gonzo Scale...a Stormlight Archives movie, from good filmmaker with a huge budget...could blow out the scale.
The movie was and still is amazing. Everyone is his place including Michael Pare and creating great chemistry between the characters. A lot of amazing movies were failing to collect box office and destroyed by stupid movie critics.
I never understood using Pare. Everyone else is just amazing and interesting and vital and engaging....and he's a mannequin. He's a plank. Why? Was he high? I still love the film though.
what about 3 men and 2 babies???
from The Warriors to this, i made some friends watch this last year its a great bad film, but it is a bad film with some good bits
Michael Pare is not the problem, his character left the neighbourhood, joined the army and saw some bad stuff, and that aged him, if he hadn't left he wouldn't be able to do what he did. But the middle of this movie is the problem, mostly directionless, the journey is pretty dull.
No wondet the Iron Man movies looked so nice and fun! They wre shot on film. The later movies look so boring.
That's the funniest head I've ever seen ngl. Great content, keep it up.
Wonderful video, and I couldn't agree more. I'd just add another three minutes, for the scene right after the killer opening where Tom steals the butterfly knife out of the hand of the Roadmasters leader, open-hand slaps him, and then hands it back to him. There's no greater moment in cinematic history that establishes the bad-assery of an action hero.
EXCUSE ME. 29:34 I believe you mean this one doesn't even have electronic music PIONEER and FILM SCORE LEGEND Wendy Carlos doing the music.
This movie rules start to finish, i don't care what you think. I love that i have this wild ride of a film all to myself, that I can quietly pull out of my back pocket for unsuspecting friends every now and then and watch them lose their minds and be completely baffled that they've never heard of it. With no preface or introduction whatever, I showed it last week for my girlfriend, my 14-years-younger little brother, and his partner, and they were all captivated. My brother, totally unprompted, declared it a vibes movie, BTW
I was introduced to this movie in a film class in college, and I've unapolgetically loved it from that moment on. It was presented as an example of how a simple story can have other elements that elevate the whole of the experience. The art style and the soundtrack carry SO MUCH of the weight and, in the end, it's more than enough for me. And, as you say near the end of your essay, it's always enjoyable to find other people who feel the same about it.
I saw this movie in the theatre with a girl who was as enthusiastic about making out as I was. Good times!
10:15 Wait is it spelled Nobbles? Why did I think it was Novels the whole time?
